Things that Might have gluten part 1~

Recently watched a debate on Facebook of things that contain gluten that you never suspected. There were some really good valid ones that I remember being stumped by, then there were some that made me go "Huh? What?" So I had to start reaching out and contacting companies for more details here.

One thing that I know can be confusing is you use a product and then have a reaction or get sick. I'm going to say the evil statement no one likes ~ It Might not be Gluten that made you sick~. I've had some strange reactions that I've had to link back to things to figure out what they were, and they weren't gluten! I've found out the hard way in my life, I'm allergic to penicillin, wasp stings, dyes in detergents, scents in detergents, naproxins, sulfa, wool among other things. So when I get hives, and or start tossing my cookies, we play "what have we eaten or touched in the last 48 hours." Some reactions can take hours after initial contact to show up, and in extreme cases over 24 hours. That's where I come in, in extreme cases. Try remembering everything you ate, touched, came in contact with, the last 24 hours, and what might have been an allergen.

So back to weird things that might contain gluten. Some of the weird ones were Toilet Paper, Floss, and Razors, I've covered Lip Balm already and Shampoo. I was shocked the usual 'Glue on stamps and envelopes' did not come up. -

Here is what I found out on Gluten Free Toilet Paper ~ I can't find one that contains gluten, so I guess that's good! A friend of mine told me she thinks it's the chlorine

Fiora -
  • It is our pleasure to assure you that our products contain NO GLUTEN whatsoever! No protein is used in any part of our products process.
 Scotts -
  • Kimberly-Clark consumer products do not contain wheat, rye, barley, spelt, triticale, kamut or farina.
Charmin -
  • We appreciate you writing to find out if Charmin products contains gluten.  Charmin products do not contain gluten; there is no gluten in the adhesive used to hold the first sheets on core of the Charmin toilet tissue.
Cottonelle -
  • In response to your inquiry, none of our Kimberly-Clark consumer products contain wheat, rye, barley, spelt, triticale, kamut or farina.  This includes the adhesives used at the beginning and end of each roll.
Georgia Pacific - (Quilted Northern, Angel Soft) -
  •  Georgia-Pacific tissue, towel and napkin products do not contain any wheat, rye, barley, oats or any of their by products.  In addition, the core adhesive used for tissue and towel products is not gluten based.

As for Razors containing Gluten ~ One thing to keep in mind is you can use an electric ladies razor, which is rechargeable, and saves you the out of pocket cost of a new razor regularly. Or you can also use hair conditioner to lather up your legs and get a plain old razor. Either of those are another option. I don't know about you, but I always use up my shampoo before the conditioner, so this wouldn't be a bad option to even out my bottle use.

Gillette Mach Razors and Venus -
  • You’ll be happy to know there is no latex, gluten, or lanolin in any lubrastrips. It may also be helpful to know there are no animal by-products or derivatives and no fragrance.
  • If we add gluten, wheat, or wheat extract to a product, it will be listed in the ingredients on the label. The only exception in which it won't be listed in the ingredients on the label is if, wheat or wheat extract is added to the perfume at a Very low level. If you are concerned about using a product with a perfume, we recommend you use a fragrance-free product, not uncscented products. Un-scented products may contain a fragrance to mask the smell of the ingredients.
Shick -
  •  With regard to our line of shaving products, although we do not use wheat protein or wheat derived oils in our product formulations, we cannot certify that our facilities are gluten free. In addition, the plant origin of some ingredients may vary, making Gluten Free Certification difficult.
Bic -
  • Thank you for your email.  Our Product Safety Specialist informed us that none of our razors contain gluten.

We regret we are not able to suggest a product that meets your needs at this time.
I figured it couldn't hurt to reach out and find out if Floss contained Gluten~

Oral-B / Glide -
  • None of our current Crest toothpaste versions, Crest Whitestrips versions, or Crest Night Effects contains gluten.  In addition, none of the ingredients used in Glide/Oral-B dental floss contains gluten.

Although we do not directly add ingredients that contain gluten to Crest Pro-Health Rinse or to Crest Whitening Rinse, it's possible these products could contain trace amounts.  We recommend you contact your doctor before using these Rinse products if you have questions or concerns about gluten.

Then it came up, Diapers containing wheat... What? Why? Seriously? Well for Celiac disease this isn't really an issue, but for babies with diaper rash, could they have a wheat allergy? Plus if you've rid your home of gluten, would you want to bring diapers with wheat into your home? So here are the ones that I found that listed Wheat on their websites.

7th Generation Overnight Diapers -
